Muddy BamaCross

The start of the 2012 BamaCross season was kicked off on Sunday September 30th and to say it ended up muddy would be an understatement. Over night rains gave the course a good soaking, the Masters 35+ & 45+ raced in near perfect conditions with over cast skies and a track that was real grippy. As the Cat 4 took to the course the rain set in and never let up. By the time Michael Soto and Max Diaz headed out in the Single Speed the course was headed underwater. Even with the weather the way it was both Michael and Max rode extremely well, Max looked strong and in second at the start of the last lap and Micael was in third. As they came out from the back side of the course Max was no longer in second and in fact was way off, Michael had moved up a spot and took 2nd place. Finally Max appeard carying his bike, while on the backside his chain broke, but undaunted he ran the rest of the course coming home in 5th place.

BamaCross #8 Brookside Park

The 8th race of the BamaCross series saw the morning start off cold and frosty but with plenty of sunshine. Brent set the course up real close to race #3, mother nature added her touch with the rain that went through on Friday making several section wet and muddy.  Alan & Mick lined up to give the Masters 45+ race a go and John & Stewart were ready to go at it in the Single Speed. As the Masters race went off Mick got a good jump and was hanging tough towards the front while Alan was not far behind trying out his new Countour camera filming it all. As they made it around the long muddy course it was taking it’s toll on both of them and by the end of lap 1 John & Stewart came by. With Mick feeling the effects of the soft course Alan took of to catch John & Stewart and catch them on camera. As they came around to the creek bend Alan’s lack of off road skills caught up with him and sent him over the handle bars and his Pimpin bike flying. After regaining his footing and catching his breath Alan moved on joining back up with Mick to finish up the race. John and Stewart had a better race both finishing in the top 10 once again.
